When Life Happens Homeschooling Continues On
Lord Epa dislocated his patella at soccer practice Thursday night. We got home from the ER about 1AM. Lord Epa was pumped full of pain killers, had his leg in a brace and was on crutches. Needless to say he slept all day Friday. The ER staff were relived to discover I homeschooled and that Lord Epa wouldn't be expected to hobble down school halls, they were also thrilled not to have to fill out all the paper work public schools require. Even though he slept all day Friday we didn't miss any school, we just did Friday's work Saturday. That's one of the nice things about homeschooling when life happens homeschooling is flexible, and Lord Epa has learned an awful lot about patellas. If it had been me I would have been screaming in agony. Instead Lord Epa was asking intelligent questions and remarked that his patella (knee cap) looked interesting when it was dislocated. I thought it looked GROSS, but what do I know I am just a Mom.
Monday we went to the orthopedic doctor. Lord Epa still has his leg in the brace, but now he can walk without the crutches and he has simple exercises to do until we go back in two weeks. The Doctor, Nurses, and Receptions were all thrilled we homeschooled. Less paperwork for them, we could come back during the school day without having a hassle with the school and Lord Epa wouldn't have to walk more then he needed to, while his leg is still healing. And once his leg is healed enough for physical therapy we can fit it into our schedule without having a major battle with the public school bureaucracy. LIFE IS A GREAT REASON TO HOMESCHOOL!
