Tuesday Tales

I finally had a chance to check out Fenris' doghouse. It's pretty neat. I also checked out his dogfood, I think I'll stick to my catfood thank you very much. No wonder the poor thing eats our food when he gets in the garage.

And I'll have to say this for Fenris he does keep himself clean. He even manages to keep his paws from getting too muddy. Mommy says that it's a real shame when her cats are muddier then the doggie.

Mancat & Mandog Monday

OK, technically Fenris isn't a mandog yet as he is still a puppy but us guys have to stick together around here. I supervise Fenris when he visits the butterfly garden to make sure he doesn't get in any of the flower beds. Mommy says I am very good at babysitting him.
~Socks, the mighty mancat

Woof, I am trying real hard to learn everything a good doggie should know. Mommy says sometimes my puppy enthusiasm gets in the way. I know one thing though I DO NOT LIKE RAINY DAYS!!!!

Mississippi Gulf Coast: Richton report’s political ties negate its credibility

Mommy wanted to let everyone know about something that will harm the environment of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, you can read about it at her blog. Her newest post showcases a letter to the editor a concerned citizen wrote Mississippi Gulf Coast: Richton report’s political ties negate its credibility

Scylla Sunday

I am taking a dust bath. It is a very relaxing way to spend a Sunday.

News by Charybdis

Scylla and I were feeling kinda left out as Fenris has the Tail Chasers Club and Socks belongs to the M-Cats Club so we were thrilled when Chilli told us that we could join her Silky & Slender Crew.

We meet a new cat today. Baby Patches, visit Confessions of the Plume to find out about the Spring Photo Contest for Cats.

Flowers on Friday

We apologize for not being by to visit all our friends as often as we should. We are thinking about you and will be by as soon as we can drag Mommy to the computer. The beans are making a new flower bed in the front yard and of course we have to weed the old ones (sigh). But in the PLUS colum Mommy got out the solar fountain and it still works. When Mommy isn't outside doing yard work she insist she has to do things like laundry and cook. We thinks it would be a lot simpler if the beans ceased wearing clothing and soaking in water. And we could share our catfood and dogfood with them, then Mommy wouldn't have to cook. But for some reason Mommy was horrified at the suggestion.

Anyway we thought we would share these wildflowers with you, while we helps Mommy. They have brightend our day, we hope they will brighten yours.

Thoughts on Thursday ~ Fenris

I am learning how to play fetch.

I do not think it is a fair game though. The humans just stand around and throw the ball and I do all the running. I much prefer soccer.

Is This a Case of Animal Owner Abuse?

We wonder if this is related to this.

Wordy Wednesday Challenge 2009 featuring Scylla

Maggy, Zoey and the Zoolatry Human, Ann made this great picture for me. Drop by Zoolatry to see all the other participants in the 2009 Wordy Wednesday Challenge.

Warning ~ Pet rescue accused of taking money and dumping pets

Susan Garner operates a rescue called SG Alley Cats and is now accused of running a scheme to take money for surrendered cats before getting rid of them. The accusations came after Garner called animal control to come get 16 of her rescued cats.

Each animal was given to her along with a "drop-off" fee of $10 per cat. Authorities believe she took the money, then got rid of these 16 pets. Owners told authorities that they believed their cats would be safe, not end up at a shelter.

Of the 16 cats that went to the shelter, some were picked up by their previous owners who were contacted from the tags they still wore, one was euthanized due to illness upon arrival, some found adoptive homes, and the others scheduled for euthanasia have now been put on "hold" until the matter is sorted out.

This is despicable, we feel so bad for these poor cats. It's bad enough to be abandoned by your previous owner, but at least they cared enough about you to send you to a rescue and not a shelter where you would be euthanized. We don't blame the previous owners for feeling duped and angry. We just wishes all the cats had loving forever homes. You can read all about it here.

Tuesday Tales

Mommy got me this nice sheepskin to sleep on. I drag it out of my doghouse though and lay on it in the yard. It makes a very nice bed.

Mommy says I have to warn all the delicate ladies to avert their eyes for my centerfold pose.

Aren't you just dying to rub my belly?
~Fenris

Silly Sunday

Would you like to play with me. I love to play ball.

Nope, I don't fetch. I capture the ball and you are suppose to chase me. If you catch me you can have the ball. Mommy IS NOT good at this game. Charybdis is kinda good at this game. Sometimes she gets to the ball before I do. But she runs away when I get there and lets me have the ball. I am not sure why no one seems to understand the rules to this game.

When I get tired of playing ball I find sticks to play with. I think they are related to Siena & Chilli's evil twig.

Yellow

This is our pink and YELLOW Lantana. Doesn't the YELLOW just pop out at you?

Feathers on Friday

Come on Mommy and Fenris, you two are very pokey.

We are going on a nature walk, you are welcome to join us. The more the merrier I always say.

Hi Scylla, what have you been doing? (Scylla: I have been hunting in the woods. I will join the walk if I may.)

Here is Mr Gander. He is standing guard in the pond. Mrs Goose has a nest on the island. If we are lucky there will be some baby goslings for us to see soon.

Do you see the woodpecker? He is up near the house.

Scylla, what do you smell? (Scylla: I smells mice. I am off to hunt them. Bye)
I hope you enjoyed our nature walk.

Cats needing rescue in the Chicago Area

Niko and Cloud who blog at Cats in Maryland asked us to pass this along.

I'm a pet photographer in Chicago and often go to people's homes or shelters in the area, photograph pets and help them find homes. I went to one woman's home and there were about 85 cats ... disgusting situation. So, basically, I accidentally stepped into this hoarding case and I'm now working with the city of Evanston to find a safe place for all the cats to go ... 35 have gotten out, but that leaves 50 cats to go. All are black, or black and white ... most are at least spayed/neutered and virsu-tested, some are vaccinated, and a few are micro-chipped too. I'm reaching out to all the rescues and seeing if anyone can take just two cats ... They are a little on the shy side, but none have been truely feral. We can even deliver! I've got to get the cats out by March 31st or they will be euthanized.

Twins on Tuesday ~ Scylla & Charybdis do the Honest MeMe

Derby the Sassy Cat gave us this pawsome award. See Socks' post below for the rules and all that.

We thought we would show you this old picture of us that was trapped on Mommy's cell phone before we get started. It's not very good quality but we thinks the picture is cute.

Mancat Monday ~ Socks does the Honest Meme

Derby thinks we are honest, he gave us all this award.

"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul (that would be Derby the Sassy Cat) who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” (We are going to break the rules and let whoever wants to play, play. We wouldn't want to harass anyone. Actually Mommy rebelled at having to type more. She insist she needs to take her sinus medicine and go to bed). Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on! "

Socks gets to go first.

  1. I am the oldest cat of the house now. I am eight years old.

  2. Sometimes I don't come when the beans call they find this very annoying.

  3. I have a lot of names: Kitty (My fur Mom's name was Miss Kitty after a character in Gunsmoke and youngest boy bean was going to name me after her), Socks, and Sockie~Pooh (youngest boy bean's nickname was Pooh boy when he was little cause he liked Winnie the Pooh).

  4. I weighed 13.2 pounds when I went for my check up in January.

  5. I don't like having my picture taken.

  6. I caught a rabbit once. It made Mommy very sad.

  7. I don't eat much. I just nibble at my food.

  8. I love raw shrimp. When Mommy is making gumbo I stay in the kitchen with her in hopes she will drop one on the floor. I don't like it once it's cooked though.

  9. I like lettuce.

  10. I love MoMo

Scylla & Charybdis will provide 10 honest things about themselves tomorrow, so stay tuned for The Twins on Tuesday.

Scylla on Sunday

The view from the top of the entertainment center is pawsome. And doggies can't get up here. Charybdis is silly she runs from Fenris, being more intelligent I just stay up high where he can't get me and observe him. He is fun to watch.

But this is the best seat in the house. Except for Mom's lap of course. Silly Daddy thought he was going to play Halo. I thinks he is going to pet me.
~Scylla

Flowers on Friday

Aren't these blue wildflowers beautiful? They are growing in our garden.

This pretty vine is growing back behind the pond. Mommy took a close up of the yellow flower.

This is a Redbud Tree. Some people call it a Judas Tree. It has pretty pink blooms in the Spring.

Our Camilla has pretty red blooms and is still blooming.

Toys Thursday

I got a toy. It is a Kong Snugga Wubba . If you don't have one you should send the humans to fetch one for you, they are a lot of fun to play with. I have a Puppy Kong too but I don't like it as much. Kong even has toys for cats, and don't tell but I have seen Charybdis playing with my Snugga. I don't mind, maybe one day we can play with it together.

I like to sleep with the Snugga as not only is it fun to play with it is comforting.

I think I'll take a nap now. Catch you later.
~Fenris

Tails on Tuesday

This picture was made not long after I came to live with my family. I am already much bigger. Youngest Boy Bean made us a tent in the back yard. I have my own doghouse now. It is a Dogloo II and I like it a lot. I started sleeping in it all night once the weather warmed up. Mommy put some nice warm blankets in there for me. Sometimes I drag them out in the yard to lay on when I wants to sunbath. Daddy comes home from Sandy Eggo today, so I need to go get ready to greet him.
