Scared to death Mommy

Fenris pup with a breaking news update. Remember that plank you saw youngest boybean walking across a couple of days ago. The one Mommy claimed she could walk across. Well we were going for our walk when Mommy decided to prove that she could walk across it. Since she didn't want to fall off she was carefully watching where she put her bare feet and moving pretty slow and then she looked down and saw ................................................. A LARGE COTTONY WHITE MOUTH WITH FANGS. Once her brain identified it she was scared witless (Her horse, Red the Second, got bit by one and nearly died so Mommy is deathly afraid of them). Thankfully I was in Good Fen mode and not I'll do what I please mode and minded Mommy when she said BACK NOW. We ran (and frankly I didn't know Mommy could move that fast) back to the house and interrupted Daddy putting shocks on the truck to come kill it. And Mommy collected all the cats and threw them in the house. She said this was one time they were not snoopervising for their own good. Daddy really didn't believe it was a COTTONMOUTH MOCCASSIN until he killed it and got a good look at it's mouth. Honestly when Mommy gives a 100% ID he should know it's good, cause most of the time she just says she saw a snake (no idea what kind), she recognized this one right off the bat. Anyway there will not be anymore walking across the plank for us. Mommy is afraid where there is one there may be more so's we are staying a safe distance away from the pond. Sorry there aren't any pictures but Mommy said we were LOCO if we thought she was going to get close enough to take a picture even after Daddy deaded it.

Scylla on Sunday

Since Fenris has been playing with our toys I thought it only fair that I play with his. Mommy puts peanut butter in this for Fenris to lick out. It doesn't have any food in it now though. I wants food in it Mommy.

It's fun to roll around the floor though.

Books ~ Photo Hunt

Scylla is sleeping on the BOOK shelf. We have lots of BOOKS on the self under her.

Charybdis is sleeping on the BOOK bags, which are laying on a stack of BOOKS. Mommy uses the BOOK bags to return BOOKS to the library.

Flowers on Friday

These flowers are growing in the flower bed in the front of our house. This is another African Daisy. We showed you the white one Wednesday.

You can see it again here with the Foxglove. This is our first time growing Foxglove and we love it.

This is a view of the whole flower bed.

Mommy likes Snapdragons so we got some of them too, but they all died. We has no idea why. If anyone knows about Snapdragons we would appreciate advice on how to grow them as Mommy and Daddy both like them. That is Pineapple Sage in front of the Snapdragons, it is blooming now.

We has Purple Heart in the bed too.

Happy Birthday Hansel

We wants to wish our friend Hansel a Happy Birthday!!!!! He is having a birthday bash at his place. He sent us home with this lovely gift basket. It's huge the basket can double as a bed once you get all the yummy and fun to play with stuff out.

This weekend since the beans were away visiting their parents we stayed at the marathon screening of CCSI V at Sassy's. We had a great time and selected the T-shirt as our free gift.
It was marvelous spending the whole weekend there watching the movie and catching up with our friends and the beans didn't even know we were MIA.

Trails on Tuesday by Fenris

Youngest boy bean is going on a walk with us. He can walk across this board, I can't. Mommy says most doggies would just run through the water as it is not very deep here, but I don't like getting my feet wet or muddy. So me and Mommy had to take the long way around. Mommy claims she can walk across this board but I am not sure I believe her.

Here we are at the butterfly garden this is a Stokes Aster. They smell good and are a pretty color.

This is some pretty orange clover growing wild. It grows in the ditch.

This is another wildflower growing by the pond. Mommy likes it and pulled out all the weeds around it so it can grow into a nice tall evergreen shrub. Mommy looked it up in her wildflower book, but I forgot what she told me it's name was. She even tried to root one, but it didn't work. ~Fenris

Mancat Monday

I love this afghan Grandma made for Mommy, aren't the colors pretty? Whiskers loved it too. We spent many happy hours curled up on it together. I am going back to my nap now and dreams of my sweetheart MoMo. ~Socks

Scylla on Sunday

This is the last picture we have of the Goose Family, it was taken April 1st (we are very late posting) and the next day the whole family was gone. We hopes they wandered over to the meadow next door with the stream running through it and nice long grass. We thinks they came to tell us bye and that they would see us again next year. Some of the woofies asked Fenris about chasing the geese. Fenris is very well behaved he doesn't even bark at them he just sits and watches them. Although he and Mr. Gander did run up and down the fence with each other one day. We thinks they were playing as no one looked upset, and to tell the truth it looked more like Mr. Gander was chasing Fenris.

Last Sunday Mommy, Daddy & Youngest Boy Bean planted strawberries while eldest was at work. We hopes they do good we have never tried raising them before. ~Scylla

Plastic by Fenris

The pink watering bucket is PLASTIC, the big 5 gallon bucket is also PLASTIC and the flowerpots are PLASTIC. There certainly is a lot of PLASTIC in our greenhouse. Some of the greenhouse is even PLASTIC. I am checking to see if the soil has all the fertilizer it needs. Fertilizer is very important when you are growing plants.

Happy Birthday ML

Wishing ML a Happy Birthday. ~Socks, Scylla, Charybdis, Fenris & Alasandra

Three Cheers For Barb Day!

Last year, when Not The Mama from Purrchance To Dream rescued Pete, The Cat Blogosphere created an "Official Not The Mama Seal Of Approval Award" for being a cat blogger who steps forward to help cats in need, always caring, always giving. And the CB celebrated a whole day dedicated to NTM.

That was a very special day for Not The Mama, and recently, the story of Whitey at Gandalf & Grayson's blog has reminded us that again it's time to take an extra special step for someone who is extra special. And so, we are joining our blogging friends in celebrating Three Cheers For Barb Day (some of you may know her from Will Think 4 Wine).

Flowers on Friday

Mommy when I get through eating my greenie can we walk down to the butterfly garden and show our friends the flowers.

(Yes, Fenris.)

These are Swamp Iris. We loves their cheerful yellow color

Our purple wisteria is a mass of blooms. I just love it when everything is blooming down here. It smells heavenly.

Now can we walk over the bridge.

(Sigh, I guess so Fenris)

Splash, our walk has been interrupted by an unforeseen fall. Apparently Mommy does not like being all wet. But at least she managed not to get the camera or the cell phone wet.

Monday Musings

The geese came up to the house to show Fenris the goslings. They are headed back home now.

Scylla on Sunday with Fenris

Sunday is a fun day. I am relaxing in the jungle gym, soaking up some rays. I love the sunshine.

Fenris is playing soccer with youngest boy bean. I can watch the game from my perch on the roof.

So far youngest boy bean appears to be winning.

Maybe I should go lend Fenris a paw, what do you think?

Gardening Update

Would you believe we already have blueberries for Mommy to pick and the radishes are ready and some of the yellow squash. And of course there is a ton of weeding to do. While we are very thankful for the fresh fruit and vegetables we are sad that Mommy has so much yard work to do now and we will not be able to visit all our friend for awhile. We will be thinking about you and we will visit when we can.

Mommy made a radish-asparagus salad with radishes from our garden for lunch today, she seemed to think it was very tasty. We wouldn't know as we were not given any. ~Socks, Scylla, Charybdis & Fenris

Painted by Scylla

Do you see the Japanese PAINTED Fern in our flowerbed?

Flowers on Friday with Scylla & Fenris

This is a wild grass that grows in our yard it has pretty blue flowers. We have left several large clumps of it when we cut grass because it is so pretty.

This is Purple Heart. We planted it in the front flower bed.

Daddy made this flower bed for us. He is rocking it up to makes it pretty, but we are already putting flowers in there.

This pretty little Daisy is growing in our greenhouse. We thinks the wall behind it created an interesting effect in the picture.

This is a wild vine that Mommy calls a Sweet Pea. It has pretty blooms but it it trying to strangle our azaleas so we has to rip it up.

You saw this flower bed the other day. We likes this bed a lot. There was a woodpecker in the bird feeder today.

Here is a close up of the Cypress Vine, we was happy to discover that it is a mixture of colors. We has the red, pink and white.

Fenris helped Mommy carry the Buttercup Ranunculo (Turnera ulmifolia) to the front flower bed. We loves it's pretty yellow blooms.

Fenris is testing the dirt to make sure it has enough fertilizer in it.

Personally I was shocked to discover that Mommy let Fenris in MY GREENHOUSE. Do you think Fenris sees me? I am practicing being invisible.

Just in case he spots me, I will practice being invisible on a shelf.

Not to worry Scylla, gardening is hard work. I am ready for a nap.
