Thursday in the Garden

Grandma gave us this flowering shrub. She said it was a Spiraea. It has pink blooms.

It did good while we were getting lots of rain but once it stopped raining and we gots the hots it started dying. It seems to be doing OK now. Mommy had to cut it way back though.

Grandma gave us this flowering shrub too. She said it was a Bridal Wreath Spiraea. It started dying when we got all the rain. We don't think it will make it.

The Whiskers Bed was doing good until we got all the rain. Now the Verbena is mostly dead. (sigh) On the other hand some seeds from the Candle Bush came up in here. Since there wasn't much growing in here Mommy decided to leave them instead of pulling them up. Even though they don't belong in here. And see that azalea blooming in the back. We thinks it is dead, it doesn't have hardly any leaves on it now.

Be sure to visit Jonesie and the other Feline Gardeners.

It's such a shame the the weather has been upsetting your beautiful flowers!

We still think you have a lovely garden!

We had False Spirea a few years ago, but it didn't really take and quickly died off. Of course, that could have been due to the boys' gardening "help." LOL. Never tried "real" spirea and we have no idea what the difference is!

Flowers can be so picky sometimes! I need water, oooh too much water...make up your mind, I say! Anyway, your garden is still very pretty...keep up the good work!

We have princess spirea here and they are very pretty. Our flowers are light pinky lavender. The rain did a number on them here too but they don't last long anyway. You can try cutting them way back, even to the ground and you will be surprised at how well they come back.

Your garden looks very pretty. We haven't had hardly any rain lately and everything is drying up in the heat! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

Thanks for visiting everyone. We had never heard of false spirea, so we are going to google it and learn more about it.

OP Pack, we are going to try cutting the bridal wreath to the ground and see if it will come back up. We thinks it may still be alive and least a little. Thanks for the info. ~AFSS

Oh the weather is so silly isn't it - and plants too - some like a lot of water, others hate it. We think your garden is looking pretty good - better than ours would that is for sure! Even the plants that aren't doing great still look ok - at least to us!

We're sorry some your plants didn't make it. That first one does look like a spiraea. We have some of those with white flowers.

We will purr for your plants that are struggling to survive. Seems like all of our gardens have had challenges this year. We finally got sun and warm temps the last 2 days, so we are hoping it stays that way for awhile!

The spirea is beautiful.
