Fenris Friday

Come with me to see what my Daddy is building.

This is for composting. When Daddy gets finished with it we will put leaves, vegetable peels and other stuff in it so it can turn to compost.

Mommy you need to weed in the greenhouse.

OK, it is time for my nap. You may weed while I snooze.

Thursday in the Garden

The herb bed. It has lots more stuff in it now. But when Mommy first started it, it just had the fennel which survived the winter and the cilantro she transplanted from the tomato bed. We jumped for joy when we saw the dill was also coming back from last year. It is barely poking it's head above ground so you can't see it in the picture.

Dad got Mommy a garden wagon so she can haul stuff around. Being a lazy sort of Mommy she figured out that Fenris could pull it for her.

Mommy put some Lobelia, Pink Phlox, Turnera ulmifolia (Buttercup) and tall blue flowers we can't remember the name of in a pot.

Then she put it in the garden wagon and took it down to the Whiskers Memorial Butterfly Garden.

And sat it on Charybdis' grave until Daddy can get the raised bed built.

Not Cute Enough

Well Powder Puff (aka Artemisia) is right, I am not cute enough. She'll never let me forget it either. I wants to thank all my friends for supporting me and their kind words of encouragement. I am still a WINNER cause I has wonderful friends like you, the most TERRIFIC BOYFRIEND (King Brian), and my Mommy thinks I am cute enough and that is all that really matters to me.

Now that I am not in training and don't have to worry about being cute I am going to inhale a big bowl of cream to console myself, and maybe I'll even have an extra helping of shrimps for lunch.

Congratulations Cookie, your keyboard move was too cute. I enjoyed getting to know you and I had Mom add you to our blog roll so we can get to know you better. Good luck with your next round! ~Scylla

I am barely holding on @ Kitty Fight Club, that Cookie is one cute kitty and her keyboard move is pawsome. I would appreciate any help my friends can give me, this is one tough fight. Mancat Monday ~ Socks

Dreaming of my sweet MoMo.  

The beans have been busy in the vegetable garden this week. Saturday they planted watermelons, honeydew, cantaloupe,  turnips, carrots, and broccoli.  Since it was windy and raining off and on I spent the day inside napping.

 Daddy made a thing to plant the tomatoes upside down this year. We got some ideas from Ayla & Iza's The Big Thing. Mommy hasn't gotten pictures yet because it has been overcast and sprinkling ever since Daddy got them finished and Mommy learnt the hard way not to let the camera lens get wet. Daddy is also working on a compost pile. I has to apologize to Fenris' Fans as their will be fewer pictures of him now. Mommy can only take pictures with the zoom out as when she zooms in there is a cloudy spot in the middle of the picture. Because Fenris is so big and so fast it is hard for Mommy to take pictures of him with the camera zoomed out. She has enough trouble with us cats. We all has to be STILL to get our pictures made.

Sunday Sharing

These are the wildflowers Daddy is cultivating we made Mommy look their name up so we could share it with you. They are called Bird's Foot Violet, Pansy Violet, Hens & Roosters. We likes the Pansy Violet name the best and Mommy thinks they look a lot like pansies.  It's formal name is Viola pedata L.

Our verbena, it has really outdone itself this year. We wants to get more in different colors.

This is some white verbena we have growing around Whisker's grave.

It hasn't done as well as the purple, but it is doing much better this year.

Our Redbud Tree, someone asked us how it got it's name. We do not know but it is also called a Judas Tree. Supposedly because Judas Iscariot hanged himself from a branch of the European species Cercis siliquastrum (13). We don't like that association with such a lovely tree, so we will stick with Redbud even though it's blooms are more of a pinkish  or purplish color. There are also rare white ones although we have never seen a white one.

Our Cilantro, Mommy transplanted it to the herb bed. It didn't like being transplanted so most of them died, but three  or four of the Cilantro plants survived. Mommy says they will reseed themselves. We loved the fact this plant stayed green all winter and had pretty little white flowers all year long. And we are very happy our Dill reseeded itself and we have some coming up in the herb bed. We will show you Mommy's new herbs soon.

Mother Goose and three of her Goslings are still down at the pond. Two bad geese we call the Bully Geese are trying to drive them away. They try to keep Mommy out of the Butterfly Garden too. We don't like the Bully Geese.

Daddy planted some upside down tomatoes. Ayla & Iza's TBT gave us some good ideas.  We will show you pictures of the experiment soon. As well as pictures of our strawberries.

Scylla is saving all her cutness up for her bout Kitty Fight Club Round 5 – Scylla vs Cookie, Scylla says the competition is just adorable so she is having to work extra hard at being CUTE, but she should be back next Sunday with Scylla Sunday.

We survived the bad weather yesterday with no problems, it was just muggy, overcast and windy here (Mom and Dad were still able to work in the garden), and our family in central Mississippi are safe. ~AFSS

Mommy's horse Big Red got bit by one and almost died, when she was a teenager. And last year Mommy almost stepped on one when she was taking Fenris for a walk.

Addiction

We thinks our Mommy has an addiction to taking pictures of flowers.

All of these flowers are growing wild on Dauphin Island.

Mommy took their pictures so we could see them.

We thinks they should have taken us with them instead of just making pictures for us to see.

As addictions go we guess this one is pretty harmless. ~AFSS

Thursday in the Garden with Artemisia & Scylla

Mommy stop playing with Fenris and come help me garden.

I likes to help with the plants by the house.

This is a wildflower Mommy likes. It has little blue blooms. Mommy dug it up and put it in a pot, so Daddy wouldn't run over it with the lawn mower.

This is Mommy's purple heart, it has pretty pink blooms.

Here is Scylla, she will take you to see the plants in the Butterfly Garden. I don't venture that far yet.

Hi everybody. This flower grows on the other side of the pond. Mommy really likes it she thinks it is Carolina Jasmine.

Daddy is trying to cultivate these wild violets. They are down at the Butterfly Garden and they look really pretty this spring.

More wildflowers, I don't know what these are.

OK, we better go see what the Powder Puff is up too.

Silly Mommy she forgot to remind us today was Earth Day. Thank you to our friends for reminding us, we can't count on our Mommy for anything.  Happy Earth Day Everyone!

Russian Blue needs a name (he got a home)

JFF told us about a kitty in Mobile, Alabama that needs a home. He looks like he might be a Russian Blue you can read about him @ Momdot.

Wonderful news Momdot decided to keep him and now he needs a name.

I loves to play.

Sometimes I don't know what toy to play with next. I has to sit down and think about it.

I even try to play with the cord on Mommy's camera, when she is trying to take my picture.

Mommy says I am to close to the camera when I does that.

After you play, I recommends you take a good long nap.
